Privacy Policy

We collect the minimum we need to run the game and respect your choice to opt out of analytics at any time.

Effective: April 2026Last updated: April 19, 2026

1. What we collect

BlastType is designed to collect as little as possible. When you create an account we store:

  • Email address — used only to authenticate your account via Google OAuth.
  • Username — displayed on leaderboards and in your profile.
  • Game statistics — words per minute, accuracy, score, and stage reached for each completed session.
  • Session data — the sign-in cookie that keeps you logged in between visits.

Guest play does not require an account and stores no personal data on our servers.

2. Analytics

We use PostHog to record anonymous usage events such as page views and game events. PostHog helps us understand which features are used and where the game can be improved. These events do not include your email, password, or any message you type.

PostHog is not loaded as a tracker on third-party sites and is never used for advertising. You can read their privacy policy at posthog.com/privacy.

3. Cookies and local storage

BlastType uses a small number of cookies and browser storage values:

  • Cookie consent — a localStorage value that remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics.
  • Mute preference — a localStorage value so the game remembers whether sound is on.
  • Session cookie — set by Supabase Auth to keep you signed in.

We do not use cookies for advertising, cross-site tracking, or profiling.

4. How to opt out of analytics

You can decline analytics at any time by clicking Decline in the cookie consent banner that appears on your first visit. Declining stops PostHog from capturing any events on your device. You can still play the game fully — there is no cookie wall.

To change your choice later, clear the blasttype_cookie_consent value in your browser’s site storage and reload the page.

5. Data retention

Game statistics tied to your account are retained until you delete your account, at which point they are removed from our primary database. Anonymous analytics events are retained by PostHog for one year and then deleted.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. To make any of these requests, email us at the address below and we will respond within a reasonable timeframe.

7. Children

BlastType is not intended for children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not create an account. See the Terms of Service for the full age requirement.

8. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email or in the app.
